In the last CCC election held in 2010, the number of polling stations was 673. This year, the Election Commission has increased the polling station by 46 with the rise of voters. Now, the CCC comprising 41 general wards has 1,822,892 voters, up from 1,688,676 in 2010. On March 18, Chief Election Commissioner Kazi Rakibuddin Ahmad announced the election schedules for CCC, and the capital’s two city corporations fixing voting on April 28. According to the schedules, the deadline for submission of nomination papers is March 29 while the nomination papers will be scrutinised on April 1 and 2 and the last date for withdrawal of candidature is April 9.
Over 15,000 officers to conduct CCC polls
A list of 15,437 election officers has been finalised to conduct the Chittagong City Corporation (CCC) election slated for April 28, agencies report. The officers include 719 presiding officers, 4906 assistant presiding officer and 9812 polling officers, said officials at the Chittagong regional election office on Saturday. Besides, a list of 719 polling stations and 4906 polling booths was finalised and sent to the Election Commission on Thursday, assistant returning officer of CCC polls Shafiqur Rahman confirmed.
