Police have arrested five people in connection with the killing of Freedom Fighter Jahangir Alam, who was stabbed to death in Dhalpur area of the capital on June 1, Agencies report.
The arrestees are Foysal Islam Momen, 21, Porosh alias Palash, 25, Md Rana Bepari, 19, Masudur Rahman alias Shanto, 19, and Farhadul Islam Sihab, 17.
“After primary investigation, we first arrested Rana and Palash from Borpa area under Rupganj Police Station in Narayanganj yesterday. Acting on the information given by them, police then arrested Shanto on the wee hours of today from Madanpur Bust Stand area. Lastly at about 6:30 am, we arrested Sihab and Momen from Bibir Bagicha area in Jatrabari,” said Deputy Commissioner of Dhaka Metropolitan Police, Wari Zone Mohammad Farid Uddin.
Some unidentified criminals tried to mug Jahangir around 4:30 am on June 1 on his way to Sayedabad Bus Stand from his house in Dhalpur. As he resisted, the muggers stabbed him with knives that left him dead on the spot.
A murder case was lodged in this regard on the same day.
