Profit-taking snaps stock’s gaining streak

Profit-taking transaction snapped the gaining streak at Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) after three days, taking back the market indices to the negative territory besides slashing trade value, reports BSS.
For the session, DSEX slipped 18.04 points to close at 4951.7, while DS30 and DSES fell by 8.55 points and 8.32 points to came down to 1840.67 and 1174.89 respectively.
“The market saw selling pressure in the last hour of trade on profit booking.
Investors showed buying interest on sector specific stocks, which are perceived to generate value in coming quarters,” said Lanka Bangla Securities Limited in its daily stock market update.
Activities were mixed at the bourse when trade volume was up to 10.23 crore shares, but the value was down to Taka 390.64 crore against Tuesday’s 9.90 crore shares worth Taka 404 crore.
Major portion of issues traded ended lower on the day on selling pressure. Shares of 185 companies were traded at below their previous closing when only 84 securities gained and 38 were unchanged.
BBS, IDLC, Agni System, Active Fine Ceramic and Alltex were the day’s top five turnover leaders when the major gainers were Maksons Spinning, Orion Infusion, Reliance Insurance, Metro Spinning and Alltex.
The day’s major losers included Quasem Drycell, BSCCl, Shurwid Induatries, Beacon Pharma and Bengal Windsor.
