Rajon died of brain hemorrhage: report

Sheikh Samiul Alam Rajon, the 13-year-old boy who was brutally tortured at Sundar Ali Market in Kumargaon area in Sylhet on Wednesday, died of brain hemorrhage, said the autopsy report on Monday, reports United News of Bangladesh.
Farhana Islam of Sylhet Osmani Medical College Hospital conducted the post-mortem examination and found that hemorrhage in brain caused his death, said officer-in-charge of Jalalabad police station, Akhter Hossain.
Rajon’s body bore 68 injury marks, said the OC quoting doctor Farhana Islam.
Earlier, a court here on Monday placed Muhit, the prime accused in the murder case, on a 5-day remand.
Judge Farhana Yasmin of the Judicial Magistrate Court- 2 passed the order after police produced Muhit before his court seeking a seven-day remand.
Meanwhile, local people gave a 12-hour ultimatum to arrest the killers following a meeting of residents of 22 villages at Rajon’s house on Sunday night.
They also threatened a mass movement if the administration failed to arrest Rajon’s killers.
Earlier on July 8, Rajon, son of Sheikh Azizur Rahman of Badeali village in sadar upazila, was tortured to death by a mob over a theft at Sundar Ali Market in Kumargaon area of the city.
The killers themselves took the video footage of the incident and uploaded it on the internet. The video clip went viral on social networking site Facebook and video-sharing site Youtube which caused an outcry.
The video showed that the killers beat the teenager on his legs with a rod asking him ridiculously whether he was happy. As the boy prayed for mercy saying he was happy, the attackers said if he was happy at one strike, then the happiness will double if he was beaten more.
The video footage of the teenage boy being brutally tortured to death has triggered an outcry across the country.
Local people caught Muhit, 26, while taking the body to another place for dumping, and handed him over to police.
Jalalabad police filed a case against four people, including Muhit, his brother Quamrul Islam, 24, their associate, Ali Haider alias Ali, 34, and guard Moyna Mia alias Boro Moyna, 45, in this connection.
Meanwhile, police arrested Ismail Hossain Abul, 32, cousin of prime accused Muhit Alam, from Lamakaji Mirergaon area under Jalalabad police station in the city early Monday in connection with the gruesome murder.
