The Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Jalalabad police station of Sylhet Metropolitan Police (SMP) was withdrawn on allegation of assisting a prime suspect in the killing of 13 year-old Samiul Alam Rajon to leave the country and misbehaving with Rajon’s father. SMP spokesman additional deputy commissioner Rahmatullah today confirmed the news saying, “As per a directive of the Police Headquarters the OC was withdrawn and attached with the Rangpur Range.”
Earlier, sub-inspectors Zakir Hossain and Aminul Islam were suspended as the three-member probe committee found well-grounded linked to Rajon murder. He said departmental actions were taken against the police officials on the basis of an investigation into the allegations. Rajon was eldest son of microbus driver Sheikh Azizur Rahman of Bade Ali village under Sylhet sadar upazila.
He went to the Jalalabad police to file a general diary (GD) as Rajon did not return home on July 8 and police also misbehaved with him, it is alleged. Subsequently, Rajon family members identified Rajon’s body at Sylhet Osmani Medical Hospital morgue, BSS reports.
