Road crashes leave 5 dead in Gopalganj

At least five people were killed and 21 injured in two road accidents in Muksudpur and sadar upazila of Gopalganj on Tuesday, Agencies report.

In Muksudpur three were killed and 20 injured as a Tekerhat-bound Keshab Paribahan bus from Faridpur lost  control while overtaking other buses around Chhagalchhara, Muksudpur.

The injured ones were taken to Rajoir, Madaripur and Bhanga, Faridpur.

At least two were killed on the spot and another injured in a bus and car collision in Gopinathpur Uttarpara, Gopalganj, around 6:30am on Tuesday.

One of the deceased, MM Arafat Hossain Prince, 36, son of Sardar Atiar Rahman from Mulghar village in Mollahat, Bagerhat, was a senior principal officer of Rupali Bank at Motijheel.

The other deceased is Shimul, 40, from Moylapota, Sonadanga, Khulna. They were cousins.

A Khulna-bound car (Dhaka Metro-Kha-13-2618) from Dhaka collided with a Dhaka bound Seba Green Line passenger bus before the Kazi House, in Gopinathpur Uttarpara, said Abul Bashar Howlader, sub-inspector at Gopinathpur police outpost.

The accident left Meskat Jahan Ferdousi, 30, wife of the deceased Arafat Hossain critically injured. She was admitted into Gopalganj general hospital.

All of the deceased and injured, who are family members, were in the car.
