Rohingya persecution tantamount to ‘ethnic cleansing’: Turkish PM

COX’S BAZAR: Visiting Turkish Prime Minister Binali Yildirim on Wednesday  termed the persecution on Rohingya Muslims in Myanmar as ethnic cleansing, Agencies report.

He made the remark to reporters after visiting Rohingya refugee camp in Cox’s Bazar’s Ukhia upazila. Binali Yildirim also urged to the international community to work in unity for Rohingya repatriation and safety.

Earlier around 11:00 am, the Binali Yildirim reached Cox’s Bazar by his private aircraft. He went directly to Balukhali Rohingya camp in Ukhia from the there.

During the visit, The Turkish PM have talked to Rohingyas about their difficulties and distributed food among them. He also inaugurated two medical camps and handed over two ambulances at the refugee camp.

Bangladesh foreign minister Abul Hasan Mahmood Ali and other senior officials accompanied the Turkish PM at the time.

Turkey’s Prime Minister Binali Yildirim arrived in Dhaka on Monday (Dec 18) in a two-day official visit at the invitation of his Bangladeshi counterpart Sheikh Hasina.
