A drunk man escaped injury after being run over by a freight train while sleeping in the middle of the tracks in upstate New York, police say. Aaron Collins, 38, was highly intoxicated when he took a nap on the railroad in the town of Schaghticoke, Rensselaer County, said police. A Pan Am freight train more than a mile long came hurtling down the tracks at about 10.30pm on Wednesday.
The driver spotted Collins fast asleep on the tracks and slammed on the brakes, but not before the first two engines passed over him. Troopers say the engines were separated and moved forward to free Collins. Uninjured but still intoxicated, he was taken to an Albany hospital for evaluation, Sky News reports.
