Think Bollywood fashionista and the name Sonam Kapoor is most likely the first to pop into your head. To be honest, more than her films, the actress has made waves in the style and fashion segment, hardly ever experiencing a fashion faux pas. In the past week, we’ve seen her in a gorgeous black velvet gown in Dubai to accept an award for best actress, then wearing a marsala pleated button-down trench-inspired dress by Sameer Madan at the Coldplay concert in Mumbai and just recently at the Mother Teresa International Award ceremony wearing a sheer floral embroidered sari.
That Kapoor has a penchant for full-sleeved blouses, we know and have seen in the past, and this was one of those instances when it looked lovely on her. The mint-green sheer sari by designer Rahul Mishra was a great choice for the event, and she paired it beautifully with juttis from Needledust – a brand she has been known to sport previously as well. She completed the look with a dull golden clutch, a wispy hairdo and diamond earrings. Lovely!
Previously she was seen in Dubai to accept the best actress award at the Asia Vision Awards for her role in Neerja. Exhibiting her prowess when it comes to styling, the Kapoor’s choice of a Caroline Hayden black velvet gown was simply stunning. Not only is velvet a fabric that’s difficult to pull off, but the high-neck dress, with long sleeves and a paper bag folds drop waist is one of those ensembles that have much more of a tendency to turn into a fashion disaster than otherwise, if not worn right. But then, that was a problem Kapoor didn’t have at all.
Not only did she carry it off with flair, but we loved the well-chosen accessories – the black Corto Moltedo tassel clutch and Bvlgari diamond earrings – that just goes to prove you don’t have to wear bling to stand out. She may have won an award for acting, but we wish they’d have given her an extra one for fashion quotient that night as well.
