Stocks finished the week down on Thursday with falling trends of all major price indices at Dhaka and Chittagong Stock Exchanges as the daily transactions declined amid volatility in large-cap securities, Agencies report.
The broader DSEX of the DSE finished the week with 15.65 points down at 6,306.86. The blue-chip DS30 and Shariah DSES also followed the same trend with 7.22 points down at 2,270.14 and with 11.95 points down at 1381.51 respectively.
Out of the 338 issues traded on DSE, 153 gained against 169 losing issues.
During the week, the daily average trade value declined by nearly 23 percent to Taka 766.45 crore and the average trade volume fell by 21.20 percent to 21.88 crore shares when majority of the traded issues closed up.
The top five gainers of the week were Padma Islami Life Insurance, Standard Bank, Tosrifa Industries, Wata Chemicals and Pharma Aids.
The major losing issues of the week were Lanka Bangla Finance, Keya Cosmetics, Savar Refractories, Kohinoor Chemicals and Khulna Power.
The top five turnover leaders were Lanka Bangla Finance, AB Bank, United Power Generation and Distribution, Standard Bank and Shahjalal Islami Bank.
Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also closed the week down, with its major CASPI index ending 60.65 points lower at 19, 508.77.
