Stocks ease up on moderate price rise

Trading at Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) eased up on Tuesday on moderate rise in prices of shares when investors were taking position in stocks those became cheaper in days of recent fall, report agencies.
DSEX gained 38.04 points to 4656.47 when the blue-chip DS30 rose by 17.99 points to 1723.62 and the Shariah DSES was up by 11 points to 1102.30.
Share prices of 206 companies closed higher, with the top gainer Eastern Lubricants advancing by 8.69 percent followed by United Insurance, Saiham Cotton, BD Thai and Islami Insurance. The top 10 advancing issues gained between 5.4 and 3.81, indicating that buyers were cautious in injecting fresh fund into the market.
On the top of losing side was textile issue CAN Textile with nearly 5.0 percent fall. The losses to the other major lagging issues were between 5.0 and 2.0 percent, which also showed that market experienced less selling spree than the recent trend. Among the top five losers were Samata Leather, Libra Infusion, Progoti Life and Green Delta.
The careful transactions cut the daily trade volume by 7.7 percent to 5.69 crore shares and the value by 14.29 percent to Taka 194.52 crore.
Despite the rebound, market still looks for a medium term perspective concerning impact of political turmoil on business, said Lanka Bangla Securities Limited.
CNATEX topped the turnover list of the day followed by AAMRATECH, LAFSURCEML, GP and MJLBD.
