Stocks opened week down, with all the major indices closing in red at Dhaka and Chittagong exchanges on Sunday, agencies report. The broader DSEX of Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) finished the opening session of the week 30.72 points down at 4536.84 when the blue-chip DS30 and Shariah DSES were also down at 1736.93 and 1108.25 respectively.
Similarly, the prime CSCX index at Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) was 62.53 points down at the week’s opening when it finished the first session at 8503.79.
The transaction was also down as buyers took cautious position at both DSE and CSE. A total of 12.42 crore shares worth Taka 426.33 crore traded on Sunday at DSE when the trade value and volume at CSE were 99.80 lakh shares and Taka 28.83 crore. Market was for buyers when the two stock exchanges saw securities losing across the board. Price of 200 securities fell on DSE against 80 advancing issues. Out of the 237 issues traded, 144 finished lower when only 66 gained.
The major gaining issues were BSRM Limited, Gemini Sea Food, CMC Kamal, MHSML and Libra Infusion. The major losing issues were Nitol Insurance, Heidelberg Cement, United Insurance, Dutch-Bangla Bank and Pragati Insurance.
BSRM Limited topped the turnover leaders followed by Lanka Bangla Finance, Singer Bangladesh, One Bank and Ifad Autos.
