A high official of the US Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) will visit Dhaka soon to investigate the killing of blogger-writer Avijit Roy, said a high police official on Monday, reports UNB. While talking to reporters at his Minto road office in the city, Joint Commissioner of Detective Branch of Dhaka Metropolitan Police Monirul Islam said the high FBI official will arrive in the city very soon. He, however, did not elaborate. On February 26, Avijit Roy, founder of Mukta-Mona blog, was hacked to death and his wife Rafida Afrin Banya injured seriously as unidentified criminals stabbed them near TSC on the Dhaka University campus.
The DB official said all physical evidence have already been handed over to the four-member FBI team that visited Dhaka after the murder of Avijit for DNA test. “We’re yet to get the DNA test result,” he added. The four-member FBI team arrived here on March 4 to assist the Bangladeshi law enforcement agencies to investigate the murder case.
