U-15 Football: Feni reach final eliminating Dhaka 5-4 in tie breaker

Feni District reached the final of the Sailors National Under-15 Football Championship eliminating Dhaka District by 5-4 goals in sudden death session of tie-breaker at the Bangabandhu National Stadium here on Monday, UNB reports.  The semifinal between the two teams was locked in a goalless position in the stipulated 90 minutes forcing the match towards direct tie-breaking system.

Feni will play Narayanganj in the final on Wednesday (Sept 2) at 5 pm at the same venue. State-owned Bangladesh Television will telecast the match live while Bangladesh Betar will broadcast the running commentary of the match from Bangabandhu National Stadium. Narayanganj District booked a seat for the final eliminating Sylhet District  also by 5-4 goals in penalty shootout as the first semifinal match between them was locked in 1-1- at the Bangabandhu National Stadium here on Sunday.

After a goalless result in the 2nd semifinal, the match was again locked in 3-3 goals in the first five shots of the tie-breaker and was again locked in 4-4 goals after first shot of the sudden death. In penalty shootout, Amit Hasan Chowdhury, Nurul Absar, Kamrul Hasan, Zahidul Islam and Iftekhar Hossain scored for Feni while Rakibul Islam, Mominul Islam, Minhazul Abedin and Rubel netted for Dhaka.

Earlier in the scheduled time, Feni were close to score when their captain Iftekhar Hossain’s 20-yard shot from the right was punched away by Dhaka goalie Jubaer Ahmed at the cost of a corner in the 75th minute.
