UP member shot dead in Cox’s Bazar

A union parishad member was shot dead by unidentified miscreants at Debanga village in Maheshkhali upazila on Friday afternoon, UNB reports. The deceased was identified as Mohammad Alamgir, 35, son of Forkan Ahmed, and a member of Maheshkhali union parishad. A group of miscreants shot him at the village around 5:30pm while he was returning home by a motor-cycle, leaving him dead on the spot, said Mohammad Alamgir Hossain, officer-in-charge of Maheshkhali Police Station.

On information, police recovered the body. Alamgir was accused in a murder case, the OC added.
