President Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina today urged all to work together to create awareness among the people about prevention and treatment of kidney disease, agencies report. In separate messages on the eve of the World Kidney Day 2016 to be observed tomorrow, the President and the Prime Minister said the number of kidney patient is gradually increasing in the country because of defective birth, genetic disorders, nephritis, diabetes, high blood pressure and taking of pain killing drugs.
“I think that creating awareness among people about the prevention and treatment of kidney diseases is very important at this moment,” the President said in his message.
The President said observance of the World Kidney Day 2016 would help create awareness among the people about kidney diseases, its prevention and treatment.
In her message, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said about two crore people have been suffering from different types of kidney disease. Treatment of kidney disease is very expensive but if some health related rules are maintained, this disease can easily be prevented, she added. She said the present government has been implementing different programmes for ensuring healthcare facilities for all including the kidney patients.
Community clinic has been established at villages and union health and family welfare centre at union level, the Prime Minister said, adding that upazila health complexes have been modernized. Both the President and the Prime Minister wished all programmes of the World Kidney Day 2016 a success.
