A young man was killed as he was allegedly hit with a cricket bat by his younger brother at Kazipara in the city’s Kafrul area on Sunday, UNB reports. The deceased was identified as Md Sumon, 35, son of late Tofazzal Hossain of the area. Family members said Sumon was a drug addict and used to live separately from the family. An altercation took place between Sumon and his younger brother Sajib, 14, as the elder went to the family residence at Matabbar Bari in Kazipara of Kafrul area on Sunday morning.
At one stage, Sajib hit Sumon in the head with a cricket bat. Critically injured, Sumon was rushed to a local hospital and then shifted to DhakaMedicalCollegeHospital where the doctors declared him dead around 12:30pm. Kafrul Police Station sub-inspector Amir Hossain confirmed the incident. The body of the deceased was sent to the DMCH morgue for autopsy and accused Sajib remained absconding, he added.
