Youth shot dead in BD capital

Miscreants shot dead a youth near BTV Bhaban in Rampura area in capital Dhaka on Friday, reports UNB. The deceased was identified as Minto, 22, son of Ismail. The victim’s family members said Mintu had recently started a small business after leaving his job at a garment factory. He was residing in a rented house at 15/20, Omar Ali Lane of Wapda Road in Rampura.

Mintu’s elder brother said some local miscreants called him out of his house in the afternoon, shot him  and hurriedly fled the scene. Severely injured, Mintu was rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) where the on-duty doctor declared him dead around 6:50pm.

The reason behind the killing could not be ascertained immediately.

In another incident, a man was allegedly beaten to death by his elder brother at Uttarpara village in the Sadar upazila on Thursday night. The deceased was identified as Bulbul, 35, son of Jamal Uddin Mandal, a resident of the village. Police said Bulbul had been at loggerheads with his elder brother Bullet over family affairs.

As a sequel, the two brothers locked into an altercation on Thursday night. At a stage, Bullet hit at the head of his younger brother with a stick around 10:30pm, leaving Bulbul dead on the spot. Officer-in-charge of Lalmonirhat Sadar Police Station Mahfuzur Rahman confirmed the incident.
