CU student ‘sexually harassed’ on bus

A female student of Chittagong University said she was sexually harassed by staff of a Shohagh Paribahan bus on Chattogram-Cox’s Bazar Highway on Wednesday, Agencies report.

The incident came to light after the victim posted about her ordeal on Facebook.

According to the post, she boarded the bus when returning home from her sister’s residence.

After other passengers got down, two staff tried to violate her taking advantage of the empty vehicle.

She said she somehow managed to get down.

Abul Kalam Azad, officer-in-charge of Chandgaon Police Station, said the victim is yet to visit them and file a complaint. “We’re trying to communicate with her. We’ll try to arrest the accused as soon as possible,” he said.

CU Proctor SM Monirul Hasan said the university administration will provide necessary assistance to bring the criminals to book.
