16th Universal Sufi Festival held
The trackless people came under the light of Islam and enlightened themselves by watching the beauty of Islam and characteristics of awlias (saints) and not by sword or extremism.
The observation was made at the 16th Universal Sufi Festival held in the capital on 21st March, Thursday.
Shaykh Dr. Ismail Kassim, founder of World Shyhada Council of Malaysia was the chief guest at the Conference while Maulana Syed Jafar Sadek Shah Chaired.
With the theme “Enlightened Souls’ Introspective Utterance”, the day long programme featured among other events ‘blood donation and a conference’, following 8th Rahe Bhander Ennoble Award Distribution Ceremony.
Organised by Universal Sufi Festival Organizing Committee at the Bangladesh Medical Association (BMA) Auditorium, Topkhana Road, Dhaka, the function was addressed among others by Hazrat Javed Ali Nakshbandi (M.Z.A), Sufi Master Darbar e Ahle Sunnat, Delhi , India, a distinguished overseas guest, Syed Irshad Ahmad Al Bukhari, Dr. Sarkar Amin, Mufti Baki Billah Al Azharhi, Ad. Abul Hossain, Syed Nazrul Islam, Moulana Mostaq Ahmad, Dr. Masum Chowdhury and MA Hashim Maizbhandari also special guests at the conference.
Nine people were awarded in different categories for their contribution in respective fields. The recipients of this year are Syed Mohammad Ghazi Shah Noor Nagari (M.), Sajjadanshin of Comilla Nagar Sharif Darbar, nuclear scientist Professor Dr. M Shamsher Ali in Education, Scientific Advisor of Bangladesh Jute Mill Corporation(BJMC) Mubarak Ahmad Khan in Technology, Freedom fighter and politician Advocate Azmat Ullah Khan for social work, Allama Sajjad Hossain Rony Chishti Saberi of Faridpur for Sufi-related writing, Artist Mohammad Arif Dewan as a Sufi Lyricist, Composer, Baul Shafi Mandal as Sufi Artist and Dr Nurul Absar Khan as a Physician, said a press release .
