BNP invites PM to it’s iftar party
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina hosted an iftar mahfil for the officials of the Finance Division and the National Board of Revenue (NBR) at her official residence Ganobhaban on Sunday, Agencies report.
Arriving at the iftar venue, the Prime Minister went round the tables set for the guests and enquired about their wellbeing.
Before the iftar, a special munajat was offered seeking continued peace, progress and prosperity of the country.
Speaking on the occasion, the Prime Minister said the size of the national budget increases every year and it will increase this time, too.
She thanked the officials involved in the budget preparation for their sincere works in this regard.
The Prime Minister greeted the people of the country ahead of Eid-ul-Fitr, the largest religious festival of Muslims.
Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal, former Finance Minister AMA Muhith, Information Minister Dr Hasan Mahmud, PM’s International Affairs Adviser Dr Gowher Rizvi, Principal Secretary Md Nojibur Rahman, Principal Coordinator (SDGs Affairs) at the PMO Abul Kalam Azad, NBR Chairman Md Mosharraf Hossain Bhuiyan and Finance Division Secretary Abdur Rouf Talukder were, among others, present in the Iftar Mahfil.
Meanwhile, BNP on Sunday invited Awami League (AL) President and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and her party’s presidium members to its iftar party to be held here on Tuesday.
The party will host the iftar party in honour of political leaders at Ladies Club.
A three-member BNP delegation, led by its assistant office secretary Taiful Islam Tipu, went to AL President Sheikh Hasina’s Dhanmondi political office around 4pm with invitation cards of the iftar party.
AL deputy office secretary barrister Biplob Barua received the cards.
Talking to UNB, Tipu said their party secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, one behalf of its acting chairman Tarique Rahman, invited Awami League President Sheikh Hasina, general secretary Obaidul Quader and its presidium members to Tuesday’s iftar party. “We hope they’ll join it.”
