Information Minister tells Chattogram seminar
Bangladesh under the able leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has brought about development in almost all sectors.
Once, the country used to keep looking for aid from other countries during disasters. But now it gives aid to other countries during natural disasters.
There was a time when our middle class and lower middle class people used to depend on used garments for regular or occasional use but now our country exports garments to other countries.
However, one of most significant achievements of the present government is alleviation of poverty.
“Poverty rate has come down by 50%” he said as he made references to considerable development in digital field, energy production and industrialization with special mention of port city of Chattogram.
Information Minister Dr. Hasan Mahmud MP, made these observations while speaking at a seminar titled “ A decade of development in Commerce & Industry” in Chattogram as Chief Guest.
Commerce & Industries Affairs Sub-Committee of Bangladesh Awami League organized the event at Bangabandhu Conference Hall of World Trade Center in the port city on Friday.
Freedom fighter Md. Abdus Sattar, Commerce & Industry Affairs Secretary of Awami League thanked those who extended help in organizing the event.
In his key-note address, Prof. Dr. Anupam Sen, VC of Premier University and member of advisory committee of Bangladesh Awami League, detailed significant developments in the different fields with comparison to other developed countries during the last ten years of this government.
Kazi Akramuddin Ahmed, chairman of Commerce & Industry Affairs Sub-Committee of Bangladesh Awami League who presided over the event said, he reached at his present position as a result of development friendly attitude and cooperation to commerce & Industry.
City Mayor AJM Nasiruddin also emphasized on the positive attitude of government in respect of development and infrastructural activities with special reference to Chattogram.
MA Latif MP, highlighted development works in the country with comparison to those other development countries like South Korea and Japan. He urged the government to focus on technical education so that the country’s manpower turns into asset instead of burden.
Mahbubul Alam, president of Chattogram Chamber Of Commerce & Industry (CCCI) thanked the organizers for choosing Chattogram for the programme when he expressed his gratefulness to the government for a host of development works in the port city mostly related to Commerce & Industry.
District Awami League leaders and activists, Directors of CCCI, local elites and journalists were also present on the occasion.
