Prove bodies have found railway staff responsible for the recent train accident in Brahmanbraia district, Agencies report.
Railways Minister Md Nurul Islam Sujan disclosed the findings of five prove bodies, formed by Railways Ministry, Bangladesh Railway and the local administration, at a press conference at Rail Bhaban in the capital.
The five probe bodies reached the conclusion following their site inspections, review of the evidence and analysing the circumstances of the surroundings.
One probe body was formed by the Railway Ministry while three by the Bangladesh Railways and another by the district administration, the minister said.
The reports blamed loco master Taher Uddin, assistant loco master Apu Dey and Guard Md Abdur Rahman, for the accident, he said.
The repots found that the accident took place as loco master of the train, its assistant loco master and guard of the inter-city train No 741 Turna-Nishitha Express did not follow the signal properly, Nurul Islam added.
To avoid train accidents, the probe bodies made five recommendations, including setting up CCTVs, to observe the activities of railway station staff, arranging regular trainings for them, taking immediate measures to recruit vacancies, replacing the communication system with modern technologies and installing Automatic Train Spot System in the railway service.
At least 17 passengers were killed and over 100 injured in a fatal collision between two trains on Dhaka-Chattogram route in Mandbagh Railway Station in Kasba upazila on November 12.
