ST. PETERSBURG, FL, USA – The WTA (Women’s Tennis Association) has been named a 2019 Distinguished Company in Cynopsis Media’s Top Women in Media Awards. As the go-to trade publisher for the television industry, Cynopsis Media distributes six trade publications for television, media, digital, and sports TV businesses. Its annual Top Women in Media Awards celebrate outstanding contributions by women in every facet of the media industry – bold decision makers, agents of change, and champions of excellence, according to wtatennis.com.

This year, Cynopsis introduced the “Distinguished Companies” category to recognize companies that support and encourage women in media, through policies and programs crafted to create a culture of inclusion, diversity, equal opportunity and to amplify women’s voices at every level of the media landscape.

“We are honored to be among this field of game changers in the media industry,” said WTA President, Micky Lawler. “Our organization was founded on the principle of equal opportunity for professional female tennis players, and we will never tire of sharing their incredible stories or raising the standard in media exposure for women in sports.”

The WTA was one of only two brands that were honored in this year’s Distinguished Companies award category.

“There has never been a better time to celebrate the strong women who are moving the industry forward,” says Robbie Caploe, Publisher of Cynopsis. “At Cynopsis, we are in a perfect position to shine the spotlight across our industry, honoring the top-performing women and companies in TV, digital, sports, esports, marketing, advertising, and production. It’s wonderful to see companies stepping up to show how they champion women in the workplace. That’s a very good sign of change.”

The Cynopsis Top Women in Media nominations were judged by industry executives across the media landscape. “This year, we had a particularly high caliber of nominations, which is a testament to the quality of work being done by women across the industry,” explains Caploe. “These women and companies are deeply inspiring.”

Honorees, including the WTA, will be celebrated at the 2019 Cynopsis Top Women in Media Awards Gala Dinner on September 9 in New York City.
